Governance

Seaside Community Homes was registered with Companies House in March 2009 as a Company Limited by Guarantee and received charitable status in January 2010.  The charity began trading as an independent company in November 2011.

The charity is governed by a board of trustees who are responsible for directing how it is managed and run.  The board decides future strategy and sets goals and targets, with the day-to-day running of the charity delegated to the Chief Executive.

The are 9 members on the board of trustees; 3 members are recruited from the local business community, 3 are council tenants and 3 are elected members of Brighton and Hove City Council.  The full board meets at least 4 times a year and has established two smaller sub-committees; the Finance Sub-Committee and the Property Sub-Committee to consider financial and property matters in more detail.

To ensure good governance, the board has adopted the National Housing Federation code of governance and regularly reviews its work to promote continuous improvement.
